Youth Empowerment Program Better known as YEP runs at Case Jr. High for 7 -8th graders and at Wiley for 5-6th graders. The program operates Monday – Friday and transportation is provided home. This program is free to students due to funding through YMCA and AYPYN (Army Youth Programs in your Neighborhood). This is a great After-School program that focuses on enrichment and snack to start us off every day after-school. All students are able to sign up for different clubs like Cooking with Class, Computer Tech., Sparks ( sports portion of our program), Art Mania, group games and community service projects.
YEP for the first time this year has YAC (Youth Advisory Committee) that operates on Thursday for 7-8th graders at Case. This is a group that runs with a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Spirit Leaders. YAC is a group that works on understanding leadership of our Board at YMCA and the School Board. Our focus is to look at what teen programs can we do at the YMCA, to meet the board and have involvement there talking about YEP/YAC. We are also running Blue Shark Concession stand in the winter months. The money earned will go to YAC, the group as whole will decide where they want to go at the end of the year with their money.
YEP is a great place to be after-school where friendships and laughter are a part of our everyday program. Our staff team works hard together to make YEP a place after-school where all young teens want to be. Ask our many High School volunteers that are now in 9-11th grade that return to YEP to be a part of your program everyday still. |

Diabetes Prevention The YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program is designed for individuals who have been diagnosed with PRE-DIABETES. A physicians referral is required and we look for a fasting glucose of 100-125 mg/dl or an A1C of 5.7%-6.4%. This is 16 week program and our focus is on behavior modification, weight loss of 5-7% of body weight and increased physical activity. Our success with this program has been astounding and we are very proud of those individuals who have completed the program and really embraced change. With Diabetes on the rise we focus on changing lifestyle one day, one moment at a time. Although the program is not easy, the goals are certainly achievable and the benefits amazing. For more information about this rewarding program that really focus' on improving your life call Michelle Graham at the Downtown YMCA (315)782-3100. |

Reball The Paintball program that we offer is designed to be fun for all different ages and skill levels. Our field utilizes Reballs, a type of projectile that mimics the size, shape and mass of a paintball but contains no paint. Reballs were designed by professional players to be used in every type of marker– all of the fun, none of the mess. We offer rental equipment for a small fee that includes everything needed to play for those that are just looking for a fun time without any of the investment. The program is run similar to pick up basketball as in you don't need to bring a lot of people with you in order to play just show up and we will split up teams. There is no need to sign up ahead of time it is a pay as you go program. Our main goal is the introduction of the sport paintball that has been dormant in the north country for many years and to help develop experienced individuals. We also have created a competitive team for those you want to take the next step in the sport from a weekend player to a tournament level player. We utilize the reballs and field for practice and most of our competitions are held at Action Sports Park in Syracuse N.Y..
