PRESCHOOL GYMNASTICS

Ages- 18 months- 3 years
 

An introduction into physical activity that uses gymnastics & educational themed obstacle courses and skills to enhance body awareness, dexterity and confidence. Children work on floor, tumble trak, bars and beam.

 
Parent/Caregiver actively participates with child             

Ages- 3-5 years 
 

Prerequisite-Parent & tot recommended. Participant must be able to communicate with coach

Skill progressions are made more fun with the use of weekly themes. Children experience gymnastics on appropriately sized equipment while learning to take turns and follow instruction. This class is the transition from Parent & tot to solo activity OR the first experience for any child into organized physical activity.

Ages- 4-5 years

Prerequisite- Class A or preschool student.

Continuing to build on skill progressions from Class A children will be introduced to specific apparatus and the basic skills on each. Will spend longer rotations on equipment and further develop strength and body awareness for skill development. Boys events include Floor, Mushroom, Rings, Vault, Parallel Bars, High Bar, Tumble Trak & Strength

 

Ages 4-5 years

Prerequisite- Class A or preschool student

Continuing to build on skill progressions from Class A children will be introduced to specific apparatus and the basic skills on each. Will spend longer rotations on equipment and further develop strength and body awareness for skill development. Girls events include Floor,  Vault, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam, Tumble Trak & Strength

 PrerequisiteClass A or preschool student

Ages- 4-5 years

Prerequisite- Class A, preschool student, or mini ninja experience recommended 

Continuing to build on skill progressions from Class A and mini ninja obstacle training, this class is the best of both worlds. Avalanche athletes will learn gymnastics skills that will be incorporated into ninja style obstacle courses.

SCHOOL AGE GYMNASTICS

All classes are ages 5 and up.

No experience needed!

Class 1 participants will be introduced to apparatus, terminology, & basic gymnastics strengths & skills. Emphasis of this entry level class will be strength & body awareness.

FX: Handstand, Rolls                                              

PB: support

BB: mount, dismount, kicks                                    

SR: hang, invert, pull up

V: run & run technique, board entry                       

TT: freeze, jumps

UB: chin up hold, pull over, front support       

Strength: rope climb, jump rope

Prerequisites: Class 1/Class G/Class B

Skill progressions & drills will focus on but not be limited to attain the following:

Vault: straight jump, Handstand flat back entry technique

Bars: Cast, Back hip circle shape, candle, box press to knees

Beam: technique—Needle kick, passe hold, straight jump, Roundoff dismount

Floor: Cartwheel, Backbend, Handstand-bridge, scoop roll

Tumble trak: jumps

Strength: hollow & arch shapes (floor & bars), 

Prerequisites: Class 2/Coach recommendation/Previous team level 2 XBronze, XSilver

Vault: Handstand flat back/resi, Front tuck/pit

Bars: Cast straddle on, tap swing, Back hip circle, Inverted hollow

Beam: Handstand & side Handstand, heel snap turn, split jump

Floor: Roundoff, Handstand forward roll, Front limber, backbend kickover

TT: Jumps and basic tumbling intro

Strength: box press to feet, toe touch

Prerequisites: Class 3/Coach recommendation/Previous team level 3

Vault: Front handspring over resi, 1/4 entry, Front layout/pit

Bars: squat-on, glide to toe-on swing, undercast dismount, back hip circlex2, cast above horizontal

Beam: HS, 1/2 turn, basic split leap, side HS 1/4 turn dismount

Floor: Front & Back walkovers, roundoff back handspring, Front handspring

TT: jumps, bounder, back handspring

Strength: kip extender, press Handstand

 

No experience necessary.

This strength based program also focuses on the development of flexibility, speed, and endurance, as well as basic- advanced skill development for each of the six olympic apparatus; Floor, Pommel Horse, Rings, Vault, Parallel bars, and High Bar.

Tumbling Skill & Strength Development Program

All classes are for ages 5 and up.

No experience necessary!

Tumbling for beginners. Class will concentrate on Handstands, Bridges, Walkovers, Cartwheels, Roundoffs and strength to support skill development.

Pre-requisite: Completion of Beginner Tumbling, coach recommendation, strong handstand, straight arm bridge, Backward roll or Backward roll to handstand, cartwheel, Roundoff

Tumbling class for the purpose of developing Back Handsprings and Roundoff-Back Handsprings. Class will concentrate on appropriate skill/drill technique as well as strength & flexibility to support skill development Back Handsprings & Saltos. Athletes must have meet pre-requisite skills list

Prerequisite: Completion of Back Handspring Tumbling Class, coach recommendation, strong handstand, straight arm bridge, Roundoff-Back handspring without a spot, Front Handspring

Advanced tumbling class for the purpose of developing Running tumbling with saltos and standing saltos(front tuck, back tuck, back layout). Class will concentrate on appropriate skill/drill technique as well as strength & flexibility to support skill development. Athletes must have meet pre-requisite skills list
